Senegal Football Federation to support clubs
The Fédération Sénégalaise de Football (FSF) has unanimously agreed to offer financial aid to clubs amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
Almost all leagues were suspended indefinitely in Africa due to the worsening situation of the virus spread and the Senegal Football Federation also suspended their league.
On Wednesday, July 8, 2020, During an Executive Committee meeting, the football federation approved around US$1,833,321.00 to be shared amongst players, football clubs and other football related activities.
Having already allocated in advance to clubs and certain branches of the FSF some special subsidy, the FSF decided to grant additional subsidies as part of its recovery plan post COVID-19.
Not only football clubs and players will be beneficiaries of the relief package. Regional clubs, Beach Soccer, Sports Managers Association, Association of Former Footballers, FSF Employees Association and Doctors Association will all have a fair share of the package.
The Federation was able to raise the money through the $1.5 million relief fund from FIFA, $500,000 from CAF and unknown amount from the Government of Senegal.
The breakdown of the clubs relief package is as follows:
MEN
Each club in the following tiers will receive the underlisted amounts.
Top-Flight – US$26,000
Second-Tier – US$17,000
Third-Tier – US$12,000
Fourth Tier – US$5,200
WOMEN
Each club in the following tiers will receive the under listed amount.
First-Tier – US$5,200
Second-Tier – US$3,500
Meanwhile in Ghana, the Government has agreed to support 1,000 athletes with GHC 500.00 a month for the next six months.
