Security Consultant Criticizes Handling of Allegations by Rev. John Ntim Fordjour

Richard Komadoe, a security consultant, has weighed in on the allegations made by Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, raising concerns about how the issue has been handled at the highest levels of government. Speaking to Citizen Kofi Owusu on Ahotor FM, Mr. Komadoe underscored the gravity of crimes such as money laundering and drug trafficking, emphasizing that Ghana is not only a transit point for criminal activities but also a destination and origin.

He explained that the President’s call to investigate the allegations was appropriate, given the seriousness of the matter. However, he expressed concerns about the interference from certain parties, particularly Rev. Fordjour, who has taken a hands-on approach to the issue.

Mr. Komadoe criticized the Deputy Minister for not allowing investigative bodies to conduct their work without interference. “As a ranking member of Defence and Intelligence, what he’s doing is neither responsible nor risk-free. It undermines the integrity of the investigative process, reducing it to a partisan political battle between the NDC and NPP,” he stated.

Mr. Komadoe also voiced his dissatisfaction with the president’s directive. He argued that instead of instructing Rev. Fordjour, to collaborate with investigators, the President should have explicitly directed the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) to take charge of the matter.

“That specific line in the President’s letter—asking Fordjour to collaborate with the investigation—gives him undue importance. It creates the impression that he holds all the evidence and must be central to the process. This approach undermines the credibility of our institutions,” Mr. Komadoe remarked.

He further criticized what he described as the politicization of the issue, stating, “If you don’t align with his narrative, then you’re seen as lying. That’s the kind of nonsense we are dealing with now. It’s eroding public trust in our institutions and turning serious criminal investigations into partisan spectacles.”

Mr. Komadoe called for a more transparent and institution-driven approach to such sensitive investigations, urging the government to allow security and intelligence agencies to operate without political interference.
