Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie has paid tribute to late highlife legend Daddy Lumba and veteran gospel musician Bernice Offei during the 2026 edition of his annual Rapperholic concert in Kumasi.
The concert, held on Saturday, October 24, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, brought together thousands of music lovers for a night of live performances, cultural displays and tributes to influential figures in Ghanaian music.
According to a report by the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), Sarkodie honoured Daddy Lumba, born Charles Kwadwo Fosu, for his contribution to Ghana’s highlife music, while also recognising Bernice Offei’s impact on the country’s gospel music scene.
The event featured performances from several Ghanaian artistes, including Dope Nation, Mr Drew, Lasmid, Oseikrom Sikani, AratheJay and Sister Afia.
Afrobeats star King Promise also joined Sarkodie on stage, adding to the night’s highlights.
Rapperholic Expands Beyond Accra
The 2026 edition marked the second consecutive year Rapperholic was held in Kumasi, following the 2025 edition, which was themed Rapperholic: The Homecoming.
The move to the Ashanti Regional capital reflects the concert’s expansion beyond its long-standing association with Accra’s December entertainment calendar.
Launched in 2012, Rapperholic has grown into one of Ghana’s recognised annual music events, attracting fans from different parts of the country.
Sarkodie has also highlighted the economic opportunities associated with large-scale concerts, particularly for businesses in tourism, hospitality, transportation, food and fashion.
The latest edition further showcased the role of music events in celebrating Ghanaian culture, honouring legendary artistes and creating opportunities for players in the creative arts industry.
