Sarkodie once said, “My competition is Kendrick and J Cole, no one else.”

Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie, also known as Michael Owusu Addo, recently revealed that he considers American rappers like Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole as his main competition in the hip-hop genre. In his latest track “Brag,” he emphasized that he doesn’t see any African rapper or musician as his rival.

Sarkodie also highlighted his early start in the music scene, asserting that he was already established before artists like Davido, Wizkid, Burna Boy, Black Sherif, and Asake gained popularity.

The song also touches on his aspirations to sell out the O2 Arena and the challenges he faced on his journey. Additionally, Sarkodie teased the release of his upcoming project,

“The Championship,” is expected to drop by May 24 or possibly earlier. This will mark his first major music release since his eighth studio album, “Jamz,” which was accompanied by hit singles like “Otan,” “Don’t Try Me,” and “Been a Fool for You.”
