Samuel Kofi Agyemang Urges Veteran Musicians to Renew MUSIGA Membership and Support the Union

The Secretary of the Ghana Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), Samuel Kofi Agyemang, has called on veteran musicians across the country to actively support the union by renewing their membership and contributing to its growth and development.

Speaking on Ahotor Mmre with Obaapa Janee, Mr Agyemang expressed concern that many older musicians still hold expired membership cards and have not renewed their affiliation with the union for years.

According to him, MUSIGA can only remain strong and effective when members, especially experienced musicians who have benefited from the industry, continue to support its activities. He stressed that renewing membership is one of the ways musicians can help strengthen the union financially and institutionally.

Mr Agyemang noted that some musicians only approach MUSIGA when they need assistance, particularly when travelling abroad or seeking official support, despite not maintaining an active membership with the organisation.

He therefore urged veteran musicians to see their membership renewal as a responsibility rather than waiting until they require services from the union.

“The old musicians are supposed to give back to MUSIGA to help the union stand firm,” he stated, emphasising the need for collective effort to ensure the welfare and development of musicians in Ghana.

Veteran artistes should play a role in sustaining the country’s musicians’ union and supporting the next generation of performers.
