“Sam Pee Yalley Endorses Alban Bagbin as Best Choice for Speaker of 9th Parliament”  .

Former Ambassador to Sri Lanka and India, and current President of the Professional Forum of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sam Pee Yalley, has weighed in on the nomination of Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin as Speaker of the 9th Parliament.

His comments come in response to the directive from the President-elect urging NDC Members of Parliament-elect to rally behind Bagbin’s candidacy.

Speaking on Ahotor FM with Citizen Kofi Owusu, Sam Pee Yalley highlighted the thorough research conducted by the NDC in selecting the ideal candidate for the Speaker role.

He emphasized that the party’s research team assessed who would be best suited to manage a nearly evenly split Parliament and concluded that Alban Bagbin was the most qualified.

“Bagbin emerged as the best choice because of his unparalleled experience in parliamentary governance,” Yalley stated. “Among the current Members of Parliament, no one matches his level of expertise and institutional knowledge.”

He further praised Bagbin’s courage and leadership, recounting moments when he boldly stood his ground on critical national issues. “Parliament needs a strong and experienced leader like Bagbin—someone who is unafraid to confront even the highest authority, as he has done with President Akufo-Addo and the Supreme Court, to defend the integrity of Parliament,” Yalley remarked.

According to Yalley, Bagbin’s leadership will ensure that the 9th Parliament operates effectively, especially in a climate of heightened political competition.
