After weeks of threats, the NPP’s former Secretary in the Ashanti Region, Samuel Payne popularly known as Sam Payne has received an overwhelming as Chief Executive of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly.
He pulled 55 out of the 58 votes on offer which is nearly 95% but his main task as the Kumasi Mayor will be to clear the Assembly’s GHC50 million debt which became a subject of controversy ahead of his confirmation.
Some Assembly members speaking to the media revealed that President Akufo-Addo’s intervention helped the newly confirmed Mayor of Kumasi.
The Assembly members are warning that if the GHC50 million debt is not investigated, they will know what to do.
