The political permutation who partners the flag bearer Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia on the New Patriotic Party (NPP) ticket’s has started making the news headlines where the Dr. Bawumia’s team hopes were dashed, with an expectations outcome of 95% endorsement from the party delegates turn to be another hurdle to cross with an olive hands to all the contestant to support going into 2024 December election.
According to Prof. Kobby Mensah, there is a need for the party to consider the constituency, brand, support base and how the candidate can complement the flag bearer is very important. Sometimes going forward the strategy must incorporate the political battle ground which has to do with strong holds and swing regions to appeal to is also important.
The Political Marketer Prof. Kobby Mensah discloses this on Adekyee Mu Nsem morning show on Ahotor 92.3 FM hosted by Citizen Kofi Owusu in Accra.
He said there is a need to take notes of demography; putting into contest the first time voters and the unemployed youth is the compliment of the candidate as running mates can work for them before and after the election. Furthermore there is a need to consider professional groups and other interest groupings to help choose the running mate.
Prof. Kobby Mensah is of the view that, complimentarily there is a need to look at such as weakness, attitude, skills and the profile of the flag bearer can speak to all these political indicators to inform the political party who to choose as the running mate. And the ability and familiarity to work with someone is another key to consider.
Going forward, Prof Kobby Mensah said he believes the party will take into consideration the exit of Alan Kwadwo Kwremanteng coming from the strong hold of the party Ashanti Region. He opined that, this factor could be seen through development, vision and what the people believes in and what the candidate will bring on board.
He opined that National Democratic Congress (NDC) will not struggle in picking up their running mate. Historically the party proves in all records to handle this running mate with care who to choose to fit in to the strategy going into 2024elections and all elections in the past.
