Rocky Dwamena, midfielder for Accra Hearts of Oak, has successfully undergone anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction surgery at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.

The procedure took place on Friday night and was reported to have gone smoothly without any complications, marking a significant step in his recovery journey following a serious knee injury.
The surgery was performed using arthroscopy, a highly advanced and minimally invasive technique that has become a standard in modern orthopaedic procedures. This method involves making small incisions through which surgeons insert tiny, specially developed cameras and instruments into the knee joint.
These tools provide a clear, magnified view of the internal structures, allowing the medical team to precisely identify and repair any defects or damage to the ligaments.
By avoiding large open incisions, arthroscopic ACL reconstruction significantly reduces trauma to surrounding tissues, minimizes pain, lowers the risk of infection, and shortens the overall recovery period compared to traditional open surgery.
Leading the skilled medical team was Dr. Ocloo, a highly regarded and renowned orthopaedic surgeon known for his expertise in knee-related injuries and reconstructions. His leadership ensured the operation was carried out with the highest level of precision and care.
Unfortunately, Rocky sustained this ACL injury during a Ghana Premier League match in the ongoing 2025/26 season. It happened while he was featuring for Hearts of Oak in a fixture against Bibiani GoldStars at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The game ended in a 2-2 draw on October 26, 2025, but the moment turned costly for the player as he picked up the knee problem that sidelined him from subsequent matches and required this surgical intervention.
With the surgery now successfully completed, Rocky is set to commence his rehabilitation program in the coming days. This phase will be closely supervised by the club’s dedicated medical team, who will guide him through a structured and progressive recovery plan designed to restore strength, mobility, and function to the knee.
Such programs typically include physiotherapy, controlled exercises, and gradual return-to-training protocols to ensure a safe comeback.
Despite the setback, Rocky remains in high spirits and is fully determined to return stronger than before. His positive mindset and commitment have been highlighted as key factors that will aid his rehabilitation, and he is eager to get back on the pitch to contribute to Hearts of Oak’s campaign in the Ghana Premier League and continental competitions.
The club and his supporters are rallying behind him, wishing him a full and speedy recovery as he embarks on this road back to full fitness.
