Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, the Member of Parliament for Assin South, is demanding transparency from National Security regarding two suspicious flights that landed in Ghana in early March. The flights, an air ambulance and a private jet, allegedly remained in the country for several days before departing for Gran Canaria, a Spanish island, on March 25.
Fordjour’s concerns are centered around the purpose and cargo of the flights, particularly since the air ambulance, AirMed flight N823AM, did not transport any patients but allegedly carried suspicious cargo suspected to contain cocaine and US dollars. Similarly, Cavok Air’s Antonov An-12B, which landed on March 12, remained in Ghana for 13 days before departing on the same day as the AirMed flight.
The Minority Caucus in Parliament, led by Fordjour, has called on National Security to disclose full details regarding the two aircraft, including the cargo transported and the individuals involved. They have also questioned the coincidence of the two flights departing on the same day and demanded transparency to combat drug trafficking and money laundering.
President John Dramani Mahama has since ordered a full-scale investigation into the allegations, directing key investigative agencies, including the Narcotics Control Commission, the Police CID, the National Investigations Bureau, and the National Security Coordinator, to collaborate with Fordjour and provide necessary information.
