Real Madrid survived a late scare against Deportivo Alaves on match day three of the 2024/2025 La Liga season.
Madrid was off to a perfect start at the Santiago Bernabeu, Vinicius Jnr dribbled past his marker on the far left before threading the ball into the path of Lucas Vasquez who smashed in the opener.
Alaves midfielder Conechny came close to registering the equalizer, but Thibaut Courtois had it covered. Mbappe’s celebration lasted for seconds after his goal was ruled out for offside.
Mbappe made it two for Real Madrid in the 40th minute after a brilliant exchange with Jude Bellingham. This was Mbappe’s fifth La Liga goal. Rodrygo made it three for Real Madrid in the 48th minute after the interval break.
Endrick was introduced in the 68th minute but the 18-year-old had less influence on the game. Alaves finally scored in the 85th minute, Protesoni had his shooting boots on, and Courtois was not stopping it this time round. With four minutes left, Kiki Garcia made it two for the visitors, but Madrid held on to a 3-2 win.
Carlo Ancelotti will be less impressed with how his side finished the game.
