ACCRA, GHANA – The Rastafari Council of Ghana has extended a warm welcome back to H.E. The President of the Republic of Ghana following his successful three-day official visit to Jamaica.
The Council expressed confidence that the fruitful engagements have further strengthened the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two sister nations.
Echoing the President’s address to the Jamaican Parliament, the Council highlighted that the relationship between Ghana and Jamaica transcends diplomatic ties, rooted in a shared African heritage forged through centuries of history.
Through national initiatives like the Year of Return and Beyond the Return, Ghana continues to prioritize reconnection with the African diaspora, with Jamaica remaining a central cultural and historical partner.
Both nations share common aspirations and challenges, including expanding youth economic opportunities, improving educational outcomes, boosting agricultural productivity, developing creative industries, and addressing social inequality while preserving unique cultural identities in a globalized world.
The Council pointed to Jamaica’s globally recognized tourism sector, grassroots sports development, and advances in civil liberties as valuable models for Ghana. Likewise, Ghana’s development agenda offers reciprocal insights for Jamaica across key economic and cultural sectors.
“We truly believe that Your Excellency’s presence will inspire the Jamaican people in ways yet to be accurately measured, and we sincerely hope that the insights gained during your visit will contribute meaningfully to Ghana’s own development agenda,” the Rastafari Council of Ghana’s message said.
Members of the Rastafari community expressed strong encouragement regarding the continued deepening of ties, noting that shared ideals of Pan-Africanism, self-reliance, African unity, and cultural renaissance provide a firm foundation for expanded cooperation in trade, education, agriculture, research, and cultural exchange.
The Rastafari Council of Ghana reaffirmed its readiness to support all initiatives that foster stronger bilateral partnerships and deepen Ghana’s engagement with the broader African diaspora, contributing directly to Africa’s renaissance.
The Council concluded its statement by offering prayers for wisdom and guidance for the President, while expressing hopes for a formal meeting in the near future to discuss key national issues.
