Rastafari Council Congratulates President-Elect John Dramani Mahama

The Rastafari Council of Ghana extends heartfelt congratulations to President-elect John Dramani Mahama on his decisive victory in the recent elections. This momentous achievement comes at a pivotal juncture in the nation’s history, and we are hopeful that his leadership will breathe new life into the Pan-Africanist agenda, reinforcing Ghana’s commitment to unity, heritage, and progress.

We call upon President Mahama to continue the important work he began during his previous tenure, particularly in enhancing relations with the African diaspora. His initiatives, including granting citizenship to members of the diaspora, were instrumental in strengthening ties across the continent and the global African community. Additionally, we urge continued support for the culture and creative industries, sectors in which many Rastafari individuals have made significant contributions. With the right policies, these industries can become even more powerful drivers of national pride and economic growth.

In the spirit of fairness and democracy, we also commend Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for his dignified concession of defeat before the official announcement of the results. His actions played a vital role in fostering national unity and tranquillity during this sensitive transition period, setting a positive example of leadership and respect for the democratic process.

We also wish to acknowledge the remarkable patience, resilience, and maturity demonstrated by the people of Ghana throughout this electoral process. Their unwavering commitment to democracy, peace, and stability continues to make Ghana a beacon of hope in a region often marred by political turbulence.

Looking ahead, we are eager to collaborate with the incoming administration to promote social cohesion, uphold Ghana’s cultural legacy, and drive sustainable development that benefits all citizens. Together, we can continue building a prosperous and united nation for future generations.

Signed,

Ahuma Bosco Ocansey
