Ras Shiloh Pledges Support to Cape Coast School for the Blind and Deaf

Renowned reggae artist and Ambassador of Music for the School of The Blind and Deaf of Cape Coast; newly Ambassador Ras Shiloh, made a significant announcement at a press conference hosted by Africa United Sound System on May 2, 2025, at MUSIGA headquarters in Accra.

Known for  for his soulful voice and uplifting messages, he has announced that he will make a kind donation to the School for the Blind and Deaf in Cape Coast.

“I believe music should not only inspire but also give back. For every show I perform, I will make a charitable donation to the Cape Coast School for the Blind and Deaf.” Ras Shiloh declared, drawing loud applause from the gathered press, musicians, and fans.

The Cape Coast School for the Deaf and Blind, established in 1970, is one of Ghana’s oldest and most respected institutions for children with hearing and visual impairments. The school has played a crucial role in offering formal education, vocational training, and personal development opportunities to hundreds of differently abled children.

Despite its legacy, the school struggles with limited funding, outdated facilities, and a constant need for learning materials and assistive devices.

Ras Shiloh, born Thomas Williams, hails from Brooklyn, New York, and is a proud Rastafarian whose roots in reggae sound have inspired fans worldwide. He rose to prominence in the late 1990s with albums like From Rasta to You and Are You Satisfied, which featured powerful spiritual and conscious messages.

Shiloh is often compared to legends like Garnett Silk for his haunting voice and strong moral themes.

The reggae icon, who arrived in Ghana some days ago, said his visit was motivated by love, not only for the country’s vibrant culture but also for its people—especially the marginalized and differently abled. His trip includes a stop in Cape Coast where he will personally deliver supplies and interact with students and staff at the school.

“This is not just a one-time donation,” Ras Shiloh emphasized. “It’s a lifelong covenant. I was touched when I heard about the challenges the school faces. As a Rasta and a man of love and unity, I had to do something.”

The press conference was filled with emotion, music, and messages of unity, echoing Africa United Sound System’s mission to use sound and spirit to unite the continent.

As the reggae star continues his humanitarian journey in Ghana, his message is clear: music can heal, uplift, and build bridges where there are gaps.
