Popular Nollywood actress Queen Nwokoye has revealed that her ability to portray wild, troublesome, and dramatic characters so convincingly comes from a place many may not expect — her childhood imagination.
In a recent reflection, the actress shared that as a child, she was an avid reader who did more than simply flip through pages. According to her, every novel she read became a movie in her mind.
“I did not just read the stories; in my mind I was inside them, seeing every scene clearly,” she explained.
That early habit of mentally stepping into fictional worlds, she says, has stayed with her and now plays a major role in how she interprets scripts.
“When I receive a role, I do not just memorise lines; I enter the character and try to feel what the person is feeling,” she noted.
Interestingly, Queen admits that it is often easier for her to play characters that are the complete opposite of her real-life personality. While she describes herself as naturally quiet and gentle, she has become widely known for powerfully portraying rowdy village girls, dramatic wives, and strong-willed women on screen.
“It is usually easier for me to play the opposite of who I am in real life,” she said, adding that the challenge pushes her to deliver even stronger performances. “When I act a rowdy village girl or a troublesome wife, I want to prove that I can do it very well. That challenge gives me energy and makes the performance more powerful.”
Her revelation offers fans a deeper understanding of the craft behind her memorable roles and highlights the dedication that goes into bringing such dynamic characters to life.
For Queen Nwokoye, acting is not just about reciting lines — it is about imagination, emotional depth, and the courage to step fully into someone else’s world.
