QNET Denies Involvement in Ghana Fraud Scam, Calls for Direct Selling Regulation

QNET, a global direct-selling company, has strongly denied allegations linking it to fraudulent activities in Ghana. The company emphasized that it is not a Ponzi scheme and has no connection to a group of 44 Cameroonians arrested for internet fraud and human trafficking. According to QNET’s Regional General Manager for Sub-Saharan Africa, Biram Fall, these individuals acted on their own volition to scam others and were not representing QNET.

The company has taken steps to distance itself from the fraudulent activities, advising Ghanaians to be wary of individuals who approach them with fake offers of jobs abroad using QNET’s name. QNET has also pledged to work with law enforcement to crack down on individuals misusing its brand. By doing so, the company aims to protect its reputation and ensure that its legitimate business operations are not tarnished by the actions of scammers.

QNET’s Global Compliance Officer, Naana Quartey, has called for legislation on direct selling to protect ordinary Ghanaians. She argues that banning QNET would not resolve the problem of fraud, as the scammers are only using the company’s brand. Instead, Quartey believes that proper regulation would allow the government to benefit significantly through taxes, as the direct-selling industry is expanding and here to stay.

The direct-selling industry has the potential to contribute to Ghana’s economic growth, creating jobs and generating revenue. However, the lack of clear regulations has created an environment in which scammers can thrive. By establishing clear guidelines and regulations, the government can help to prevent fraudulent activities and promote a legitimate direct-selling industry.

QNET remains committed to operating in Ghana and working with stakeholders to promote a well-regulated direct-selling industry. The company is willing to collaborate with law enforcement and regulatory bodies to ensure that its business operations are conducted in a transparent and legitimate manner. By doing so, QNET aims to build trust with Ghanaians and contribute to the country’s economic development.
