Protect Our Rivers and Traditions — Asuo Paamu Okomfour Challenges Chiefs and Leaders

The Asuo Paamu Okomfour, Nana Baffour Gyau, has called on national leaders, particularly traditional rulers, to place greater value on the protection of Ghana’s river bodies and the preservation of traditional deities, which he described as the true representation of God.

According to him, God should not be viewed only in abstract or distant terms, but also as the natural elements that surround humanity, especially rivers and the land. He stressed that genuine worship of God is rooted in truthfulness, integrity, and respect for nature.

Nana Baffour Gyau criticized some chiefs who publicly claim to worship God but engage in unethical practices such as extorting money from people and illegally selling lands. He described such actions as contradictory to the principles of true worship, warning that they undermine both tradition and morality.

He further condemned what he described as growing hypocrisy in religious life, noting that some individuals boast of frequent church attendance while secretly using spiritual means to harm others.
He added that the celebration of curses and spiritual attacks as victories has no place in genuine Christianity.

The traditional priest emphasized that neither exploitation nor spiritual manipulation reflects true faith, urging both traditional and religious leaders to uphold honesty, justice, and respect for humanity and nature.
