Some prospective first-time voters living with varied forms of Disabilities are calling for a quota system that will allow them to fully participate in the governance of the country.

The 2021 Population and Housing Census revealed that Persons Living with Disabilities PWDs constitute eight percent of Ghana’s population, representing 2,098,138 individuals.

Most PWDs are the vulnerable class in our society, constantly facing social stigma and discrimination, inadequate housing, healthcare services, and poverty and economic disparities

According to them, successive governments have paid lip service to addressing their concerns particularly, the implementation of the Disability Act which requires all public buildings to be made accessible to persons with disabilities.

They believe their involvement in all aspects of leadership will help ensure their aspirations and needs are adequately met.
