Naa Atswei Nee-Okpey, a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Communications team, has praised Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang for embodying the concept of “it is possible” in both Ghana’s political and academic landscapes.
Speaking passionately to the media Naa Atswei described Prof. Opoku-Agyemang as an epitome of excellence and a trailblazer, highlighting her groundbreaking achievements.
According to her, the former education minister could become Ghana’s first female president if she chose to pursue that path, saying she has broken numerous ceilings and inspired a new generation of women.
Naa Atswei noted, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang’s legacy including being the first female Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast and the first Ghanaian to be the Vice-Chancellor for Women’s University in Africa.
“Prof is the exemplification of it is possible and not the NPP and the candidate they gave us. because which other ceiling is left to be broken by her maybe to become the first female president if she so wishes. Being the first female vice chancellor of University of Cape Coast, to being the first Ghanaian to be the vice chancellor for women’s university of Africa, to be the first female running mate”.
Reflecting on Prof. Opoku-Agyemang’s words following the recent elections, Naa Atswei highlighted her role as a mentor and symbol of hope for young women. “Her statement after the elections that after she had actually opened the door, gone through the door and shouldn’t shut it on young women like us on this platform but she will keep the door opened to give as many of us to go through. What she meant was that she will be a shining example, run the open-door policy, you can always come to her, count on her”, Naa Atswei remarked.
