President Mahama Vows to Revamp Ghana’s Sports Infrastructure

President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his commitment to developing Ghana’s sports infrastructure, emphasizing the importance of investing in facilities to promote grassroots participation and excellence in sports.

Speaking during the 2025 State of the Nation’s Address on Thursday, February 27, Mahama acknowledged the importance of sports infrastructure in developing the country’s sports sector.

“Infrastructure development remains paramount to our strategy. The government is committed to refurbishing national stadia, completing youth resource centres and constructing new sports facilities in the new regions,” he said.

Mahama’s government plans to build upon the foundations laid by the previous administration, which constructed multiple facilities.

The new government aims to upgrade existing infrastructure, provide modern facilities for young athletes, and promote sports development in newly created regions.

In addition, Mahama emphasized the need to prioritize community recreational facilities to foster greater participation in sports at the grassroots level.
