President Mahama Vows to Address 3 Key Issues in the Volta Region

Ho, Ghana – President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, has identified three major challenges currently facing the Volta Region: sea defense, progress on the Keta Port project, and compensation for victims of the Akosombo Dam spillage.

Speaking at Jubilee Park in Ho as part of his Thank You Tour, the President reassured the people of his commitment to resolving these pressing issues.

He highlighted the importance of constructing a sea defense system in the region to protect coastal communities frequently impacted by devastating floods.

“The construction of the sea defense will be a lifeline for our coastal communities, who are always hit by floods,” the President said.

Regarding the Keta Port project, President Mahama revealed that he has instructed the relevant authorities to thoroughly assess the project and provide updates on its progress to determine the best path forward.

On the issue of the Akosombo Dam spillage, the President acknowledged the hardship faced by victims and pledged to ensure they are adequately compensated.

“We will ensure that a lasting solution is found to address the Akosombo Dam spillage and prevent such occurrences in the future,” he assured.

The President’s promises come as a significant boost to the Volta Region, as residents await concrete actions to tackle these challenges and improve their living conditions.
