President John Dramani Mahama will today, Monday, February 10, 2024, officially receive the much-anticipated report from the Operation Recover All Loots (ORAL) Committee. The announcement was confirmed by Joyce Bawah Mogtari, the presidential advisor and aide, through a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The ORAL Committee was established by President Mahama as part of his administration’s bold effort to tackle corruption and recover state funds lost through financial mismanagement. The initiative aligns with his key campaign promise to promote accountability, transparency, and the prudent use of public resources. The committee’s work has been closely monitored by Ghanaians, with many viewing it as a litmus test of Mahama’s commitment to the fight against corruption.

Analysts and political observers have described the forthcoming report as a potential game-changer in addressing financial malfeasance. The document is expected to unveil critical details, including the scale of the nation’s financial losses and the identities of individuals or organizations implicated in these irregularities. These findings are anticipated to guide the government’s next steps, which may include forwarding the report to the Attorney General for prosecution or pursuing alternative strategies for recovery.

The ORAL Committee, chaired by Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Member of Parliament for North Tongu, comprises a formidable team of experts known for their integrity and expertise. Members include former Auditor-General Daniel Domelevo, retired Commissioner of Police Nathaniel Kofi Boakye, private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu, and investigative journalist Raymond Archer. This team has been working tirelessly to ensure the report reflects a comprehensive and unbiased assessment of financial mismanagement within state institutions.

President Mahama’s receipt of the report marks a significant milestone in the administration’s fight against corruption. The public and anti-corruption advocates are eagerly awaiting the government’s next steps, hoping for decisive action that will set a precedent for accountability in Ghana’s governance.

As the country anticipates the contents of the ORAL Committee’s findings, expectations remain high for President Mahama to demonstrate bold leadership in addressing the report’s revelations and charting a clear path toward justice and recovery.
