
Accra, Ghana – President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, on Monday, March 24, 2025, swore in a seven-member Ghana Armed Forces Council at the Ministry of Defense.
The newly constituted council will be chaired by Vice President H.E. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang and is tasked with overseeing key policy decisions and strategic direction for the Ghana Armed Forces.
New Ghana Armed Forces Council Members:
1. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang (Vice President) – Chairperson
2. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah – Member
3. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa – Member
4. Mubarak Mohammed Muntaka – Member
5. Mr. Daniel Addo – Member
6. Mr. Fuseini Iddrisu – Member
7. Ms. Nancy Dakwa Ampofo – Member
In his remarks, President Mahama reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening the Ghana Armed Forces, highlighting four key areas of priority:
“1. Capacity-building programs that enhance the skills and expertise of our personnel, ensuring that they are equipped to handle both conventional and unconventional threats.
2. Investment in modern military technology and equipment to strengthen our national defense capabilities.
3. Enhanced infrastructure development, including improved barracks, training facilities, and logistic support systems.
4. Improved welfare and support systems for military personnel and their families, recognizing that the well-being of our Armed Forces extends beyond the battlefield,” he stated.
The newly sworn-in council is expected to play a crucial role in advancing the security and operational effectiveness of the Ghana Armed Forces in alignment with the government’s vision for national defense.
