President of the Republic of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to strengthening diplomatic ties and international cooperation as he hosted members of the Diplomatic Corps for the 2025 New Year Greetings at the Presidency.
The event, traditionally held at Peduase Lodge, was relocated to the Presidency, a decision the President humorously noted had saved attendees from a long drive up the mountain and the associated traffic.
Delivering his first New Year Address since assuming office for his second term on January 7, 2025, President Mahama extended warm wishes to the diplomatic community on behalf of the government and the people of Ghana.
“On behalf of the government, the people of Ghana, and in my own name, I wish to extend warm wishes to you for a happy and prosperous 2025,” he stated.
The President emphasized that the gathering symbolizes a renewed hope for partnership and the promise of a new beginning as Ghana steps into the year 2025.
He highlighted the importance of friendship, cooperation, and goodwill between Ghana and the countries represented by the Diplomatic Corps.
“On this occasion, we reaffirm our commitment to nurturing the bonds of friendship, cooperation, and the goodwill that exist between Ghana and your respective countries,” he declared.
Acknowledging the complexities of today’s globalized world, President Mahama stressed the interdependence of nations, emphasizing that the relationships forged will shape the future trajectory of countries and improve the quality of life for their people.
“In today’s globalized and complex world, our fates are inextricably intertwined, and this fact cannot be overstated. The relationships we forge will be reflected in the development of our nations and the well-being of our people,” he noted.
The New Year Greetings event provided a platform for the diplomatic community and the Ghanaian government to engage in discussions aimed at strengthening international ties, fostering economic partnerships, and addressing global challenges collaboratively.
President John Mahama’s leadership looks forward to deepening diplomatic relations and advancing its role in the global community.
