
President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the capacity of personnel within the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) to equip them with the skills and expertise needed to tackle sophisticated security challenges.
Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony of the newly appointed members of the Armed Forces Council at the Ministry of Defence, President Mahama emphasized the need for continuous training and modernization of the military to enhance national security.
He assured that his administration would invest in capacity-building initiatives, advanced equipment, and strategic partnerships to ensure that the GAF remains a formidable force capable of handling both internal and external threats.
The president also urged the council members to embrace technology and innovation to improve efficiency in military operations. He highlighted the growing complexities of modern warfare, cyber threats, and emerging security risks, stressing that technology-driven strategies must be adopted to keep Ghana’s defense systems ahead of evolving challenges.
“The world is changing, and security threats are becoming more sophisticated. It is imperative that our armed forces are well-equipped, well-trained, and technologically advanced to safeguard the sovereignty and peace of our nation,” he stated.
President Mahama further commended the Ghana Armed Forces for their dedication to national and international peacekeeping missions, assuring them of continued government support in their quest to maintain peace and security.
The newly sworn-in council members pledged their commitment to upholding professionalism, discipline, and strategic reforms to enhance the operational efficiency of the GAF.
