President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his government’s commitment to accelerating development in the Savannah Region, as he joined the Gonjaland Youth Association in Buipe to celebrate its 50th Anniversary.
Addressing a vibrant gathering of youth, traditional leaders, and residents, the President outlined a series of targeted interventions aimed at transforming the region’s education sector.
He announced plans to establish modern STEM schools in Tinga and Busunu, expand infrastructure across Senior High Schools, and upgrade selected Category B institutions to Category A status to improve access and quality of education.
Highlighting the central role of education in national development, President Mahama stressed that investing in young people remains a top priority.
“Education is the bridge between where we are and where we aspire to be,” he stated, urging the youth to seize emerging opportunities.
Beyond education, the President unveiled key infrastructure and economic initiatives designed to stimulate growth and create jobs. These include plans to construct a modern sports stadium for the region and establish 24-hour markets in every district to boost local commerce, support small businesses, and expand employment opportunities particularly for young people.
