
Cape Coast, Ghana – President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, has described the Central Region as the citadel of education in Ghana, emphasizing its historic role in the country’s academic development.
According to him, the region is one of the foundational places where education began in Ghana, making it a key area for any educational reforms.
Speaking in the region as part of his Thank You Tour, the President highlighted the significant impact of ongoing reforms on educational institutions in the Central Region.
“We know Central Region is a citadel of education, and therefore our reforms in education would affect very much the institutions here in Central Region,” he stated.
The President further revealed that a National Education Review Planning Committee has been established to assess the country’s education system to ensure quality outcomes.
“Already, we’ve set up the National Education Review Planning Committee that is going to take a look at our whole educational system, from the basic level to the secondary to the tertiary, so that we can get quality outcomes for the investments that we are putting into our education,” he said.
President Mahama emphasized the need for Ghanaian students to be equipped with skills relevant to the modern world, ensuring they can seamlessly integrate into the job market.
“We want our children to be trained for the modern world, to be trained for modern jobs, and to come out with the skills that make them integrate into the world of work,” he noted.
He reassured Ghanaians that education remains a top priority for his administration, pledging to create the best possible learning environment for students.
“Education will remain a priority, and we will work to provide the best possible learning environment for our children,” he affirmed.
