President Mahama Delivers on Promise to Nominate Ministers Within 14 Days

Accra, Ghana – President John Dramani Mahama has fulfilled a key campaign promise to Ghanaians by nominating ministers for his government within 14 days of being sworn into office.

This swift action underscores his commitment to honoring the pact he made with the citizens of Ghana during the election period.

Speaking at the Presidency during the swearing-in ceremony of six ministerial appointees, President Mahama highlighted the significance of this achievement.

“During the campaign before the elections, I made a pact with the people of Ghana to nominate ministers to my government within 14 days of being sworn in, and I had every intention of keeping that promise. Fourteen days after I took the oath of office, which was yesterday, that promise stood fulfilled,” he stated.

The President went on to detail the nominations he had submitted to Parliament.

“I presented to the Right Honourable Speaker of Parliament names of 23 sector ministers, three ministers of state, and 16 regional ministers for the approval of Parliament,” he said.

In his address, President Mahama emphasized the urgency of his government’s task to restore Ghana’s progress following challenges in recent years.

“So far, I’ve named 42 ministers of state and regional ministers to begin the urgent task of resetting our dear country Ghana, which has suffered in recent years from severe crises in many sectors,” he explained.

He further revealed his strategy for naming deputy ministers, explaining that the process would proceed as the initial nominees were approved by Parliament.

“As the ministers are approved by Parliament and as they are sworn in, I’ll proceed to name deputy ministers for some of the ministries, which will bring the total ministers to 60 as I promised the people of Ghana,” he said.

President Mahama also touted his government’s streamlined structure, declaring it to be the most compact and efficient in Ghana’s history.

“This will make this government Ghana’s leanest and I believe most efficient governments ever in history,” he stated confidently.
