
Goaso, Ghana – President John Dramani Mahama has completed his three-region “Thank You” Visit with a powerful message of hope and progress during his visit to the Ahafo Region on Saturday, May 31, 2025.
The tour, which began on May 29 in Bono East and continued through Bono on May 30, was to show appreciation to Ghanaians for their overwhelming support in the 2024 general elections.
President Mahama used the occasion to express gratitude and outline specific developmental promises.

Election Appreciation & Gratitude to the People
President Mahama thanked the people of Ahafo for their strong support in the 2024 elections where the NDC won 5 out of 6 parliamentary seats in the region and 52.3% of the presidential votes.
He praised traditional leaders and citizens for their warm welcome and wise counsel.
“Meda mo ase paaaa, Nyame nhyira mo,” he said, meaning “Thank you very much, God bless you.”
Unfinished Projects & Infrastructure
The government will continue and complete all abandoned projects started by previous administrations.
Special focus on the Maban-Goaso Highway and town roads in Goaso, Kenyase, and Acherensua.

Healthcare
A regional hospital for Ahafo will be built to reduce the burden on Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
The hospital will offer specialized services like surgery, maternal and child health, diagnostics, and emergency care.
Education
A university for Ahafo focused on agriculture, natural resources, and health sciences will be established.
Nursing and midwifery colleges to be upgraded to degree-awarding institutions.
More buses for SHSs and health training schools.
Completion of the TVET regional office complex in Kenyase to promote technical and vocational education.
Agriculture & Rural Development
Ahafo to become a key part of the Feed Ghana Program.
Agro-processing to be prioritized for cocoa, plantain, cassava, and oil palm.
Distribution of equipment to cooperatives and farmer groups.
Establishment of cottage industries to create jobs and boost income.
“Food sovereignty is national security.”
Labor Export Program
Ghana will export skilled labor such as health workers, electricians, caterers, drivers, and others to countries facing labor shortages.
2,000 workers already signed for export under one deal.
Ahafo residents will be included in the selection process.
Cocoa Sector
200,000 hectares to be added to cocoa farms.
New cocoa prices to be announced in August 2025, promising better income for farmers.
Allowances & Local Governance
*Assembly Members will soon start receiving monthly allowances.
Nursing and Teacher Trainees to receive allowances and arrears from January 2025.
Plans to review local government structures to make them more effective.
Market Modernization
Modern market to be built in Kenyase with:
Cold stores
Daycare centers
Sanitation units
Parking lots
Similar markets to be replicated in other towns to support women and small businesses.
