
Accra, Ghana – President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, has assured the newly commissioned Constitutional Review Committee that their efforts will not go to waste.
According to the President, past attempts to review the constitution have often been left unimplemented, but he is committed to ensuring that this committee’s work will make a lasting impact.
Speaking at the Presidency during the swearing-in ceremony of the Constitutional Review Committee, President Mahama urged the members to recognize the weight of their responsibility and pledged his full support.
“Understand the weight of responsibility that comes with this task, and I assure you that your work will not be in vain,” he said.
He further emphasized that the constitutional review will not be an empty exercise.
“This will not be an exercise in futility,” he assured the committee.
The Constitutional Review Committee is chaired by Professor H. Kwasi Prempeh, with members including:
1. Prof. H. Kwasi Prempeh – Chairman
2. Justice Sophia Adinyirah – Member
3. Prof. Kwame Karikari – Member
4. Mrs. Charlotte Osei – Member
5. Dr. Godwin Djokoto – Member
6. Ibrahim Tanko Amidu – Member
7. Dr. Esi Ansah – Member
8. Dr. Rainer Akumperigeya – Secretary
Prof. Prempeh, on behalf of the committee, expressed gratitude to the President for the opportunity and pledged to work diligently with both local and diaspora Ghanaians to ensure a comprehensive review of the constitution.
