President Mahama Announces Key National Security Appointments

Accra, Ghana – President John Dramani Mahama has made significant appointments to strengthen Ghana’s National Security framework, ensuring a more coordinated and effective approach to safeguarding the nation.

In a statement issued by the Presidency and signed by Acting Presidential Spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the following appointments were announced:

Prosper Douglas Bani – Former Chief of Staff and Minister of Interior, has been appointed as the National Security Advisor to the President. With his extensive experience and deep understanding of governance and security, Mr. Bani is expected to play a pivotal role in shaping the country’s security policies.

DCOP Abdul-Osman Razak – Appointed as the National Security Coordinator, he will oversee the implementation of a cohesive strategy across all security sectors, ensuring a unified approach to national security.

COP Nathan Kofi Boakye (Rtd.) – Taking up the position of Director of Operations at the Presidency, his mandate is to oversee and enhance operational effectiveness in handling security matters. His track record as a high-ranking police officer is anticipated to bring dynamism to this critical role.

Charles Kipo – Named as the Director General of the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB), Mr. Kipo will spearhead intelligence operations, ensuring timely and actionable insights to preempt threats to national stability.

The statement emphasized that these appointments are a reflection of President Mahama’s unwavering commitment to reinforcing national security and ensuring the safety and well-being of all citizens.

These key appointments are expected to enhance the capacity of Ghana’s security architecture to address emerging challenges and maintain peace and stability in the country.
