President John Dramani Mahama has attributed his resounding electoral victory to the grace of Almighty God, emphasizing that leadership is a divine calling that he does not take lightly.
Speaking at a fellowship with the clergy, he expressed deep gratitude for the prayers and support he received before the elections, acknowledging that the triumph was not just his but a victory for all Ghanaians.
“Before the election, I asked you to pray for me—for God’s blessing, His wisdom, and ultimately, success in the election. Today, by His grace, that victory has come. And not just any victory, but an overwhelmingly resounding triumph that has left me in awe,” he declared.
President Mahama reflected on the unprecedented parliamentary majority his party secured, with some even referring to him as a “supreme leader.” However, he was quick to redirect all glory to God, stating:
“There is only one Supreme Leader, and that is the Almighty God. To Him alone belongs all the glory, honor, and dominion forever.”
He described the election outcome as a testament to faith and prayer, emphasizing that when a nation turns to God in hope, He answers. Quoting Proverbs 21 and 31, he reminded the clergy that “the horse is made ready for the day of battle, but victory belongs to the Lord.”
Beyond the celebrations, President Mahama underscored the serious responsibility that comes with this victory. He pledged to lead with integrity, govern with wisdom and serve with humility.
“I do not take this responsibility lightly. I recognize that leadership is a divine calling, and I am fully committed to fulfilling the mandate entrusted to me by the people of Ghana,” he assured.
President Mahama reaffirmed his belief that God, who has guided his steps thus far, will continue to guide him in making a success of the responsibilities placed upon him as he embarks on his new term.
