Yesterday, the President, H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, cut sod for the commencement of work on Olympic stadium and other sports infrastructure for the 2023 African Games.
An Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) procedure has commenced for the construction of a new 50,000 capacity Olympic Stadium for the 2023 Africa Games in Ghana.
The stadium, which will be sited at Borteyman in the Greater Accra Region and will cost an estimated $200 million and will host the opening and closing ceremonies of the event.
The facilities to be constructed include a 50,000 capacity Olympic stadium complex, multi-purpose sports halls for all indoor sports, aquatic centres for swimming and tennis courts.
The facility will be converted into a University for Sports and Development after the successful hosting of the games. As a result, hostels, administration blocks, lecturer halls will be constructed for this purpose.
