President Arrives in Germany for 5th German-African Economic Forum

President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, has arrived in Dortmund, Germany, to participate in the 5th German-African Economic Forum taking place on the 27th of February, 2018. 

The Forum themed “African Markets, Potentials and Opportunities for German Businesses,” will bring together more than 300 participants including African start-ups, entrepreneurs, African and German policy makers and investors to strengthen business ties between Germany and Africa.

 

The event will offer details on trade and investment opportunities for German companies in Africa, including industry and country specific information provided by successful entrepreneurs and renowned experts. Additionally, the Forum will focus on four (4) sectors, namely; Infrastructure and Construction; Renewable Energy, Environmental Technology, and Water Management; Mechanical and Plant Engineering and Digital Economy. The keynote address at the forum will be delivered by President Akufo-Addo.

The President is expected to drive home his message of strong economic partnership between Ghana and Germany, the ‘Ghana and Africa beyond aid’ agenda, the leveraging of Ghana’s natural resources for her development and the increasing of trade investment between Africa and the rest of the world. The President will also attend at the same forum, an event pitched and organized by the German Corporation for International Cooperation’s (GIZ) ‘Make It in Africa’ program after which he will pay a courtesy call on the Minister-President of North Rhine-Westphalia, Herr Armin Laschet.

 

On Wednesday, 28th February, the President will deliver the keynote address at the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Foundation’s German-Ghana Business Forum. On the same day, President Akufo-Addo, will pay a courtesy call and hold bilateral talks with German Chancellor, Frau Angela Merkel. The President is expected to among other things seek the strengthening of the ties of co-operation that exists between the Republic of Ghana and the Federal Republic of Germany.
