Foreign Affairs Minister Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa is pushing for a major overhaul at passport offices, urging staff to prepare for 24-hour operations.
This move aims to significantly reduce waiting times for passport applications, with the goal of processing passports within a week through the 24-hour economy program.
During his visit to the passport office, Ablakwa applauded the staff for their hard work and encouraged them to support the initiative, emphasizing its benefits for the country.
The Minister’s proposal is part of the government’s broader reforms, which are expected to bring about substantial improvements in the passport application process.
Currently, passport applicants in Ghana can submit their applications online or through various passport application centers across the country, including Accra, Tema, Ho, Koforidua, Kumasi, Takoradi, Cape Coast, and Sunyani.
The Accra Premium Passport Centre, for instance, offers an expedited service, allowing applicants to complete the process within 30 minutes for an additional fee.
