Pooley’s tragic death had emotional effects on the players – Ogum

Kumasi Asante Kotoko head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum has revealed that the players were emotionally affected by the tragic death of Nana Pooley, a passionate Asante Kotoko fan.

Speaking at the post match yesterday after the 2-0 victory over struggling Legon Cities at the Baba Yara Sports stadium in Kumasi, the tactician said they had to speak to the players extensively to put the death behind them and focus on the match.

“Pooley’s demise wasn’t easy for us at all looking at how close we were all close to him but we had to talk to the players to understand that we can’t reverse nature’s decision”.

“We had to talk to them to minimize watching his videos, stop reading publications about him. Once the FA has decided we should continue the league they have to be mentally ready” he added.

The Ghana Premiere league resumed the weekend after a five week break after the death of Asante Kotoko fan Nana Yaw Frimpong widely known as Nana Pooley was stabbed to death at Nana Koramansah Park in Nsuatre.
