Politicians Won’t Be Spared – EPA Boss Pledges Tough Stance on Illegal Mining

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Acting CEO, Prof. Nana Ama Klutse has reaffirmed her commitment to tackling illegal mining, warning that no one regardless of status or political affiliation will be exempt from prosecution.

During an interview, the EPA’s Chief Executive Officer, Prof. Nana Ama Klutse, stated that the agency would intensify its crackdown on illegal mining, commonly known as “galamsey,” which has devastated water bodies and forests across the country.

“No one is above the law, and that includes politicians,” the EPA boss emphasized. “If we find any political figures involved in illegal mining, they will face the full force of the law. We will not allow political influence to interfere with environmental justice.”

Her statement follows growing concerns that some high-profile individuals have been shielding illegal mining operators, making enforcement efforts difficult.

However, the EPA, in collaboration with law enforcement agencies, is ramping up efforts to arrest and prosecute offenders.

The Acting Chief Executive Officer of the EPA, Prof. Nana Ama Klutse has also issued a stern directive to all illegal miners to cease operations immediately, warning of dire consequences for those who defy the order.
