Political Rhetoric Heats Up as Ghana Approaches 2024 Elections

The strategic communication efforts by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) leading up to the December 7th, 2024 polls are gaining momentum, particularly with the recent press briefing on the performance tracker was met with a lot of doubts and credibility; during President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s seven-year tenure. Meanwhile, scrutiny of manifesto promises and achievements under both ex-President John Dramani Mahama and current President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is saturating the airwaves, with political pressers from both parties vying to convey their governance success stories over the past seven years still counting.

One can’t help but sense a palpable desperation emanating from both ends of the political spectrum, each vying for the favor of voters as the 2024 presidential elections approach. The accountability and stewardship of political office in Africa often weigh heavily on citizens, with taxpayers’ funds being utilized to showcase success stories, despite the populace being keenly aware of the realities they face in their day-to-day lives across Ghana’s sixteen regions.

As the countdown to the December 7th, 2024 polls continues, citizens find themselves mired in unnecessary traffic and discomfort, bombarded by a cacophony of promises from the major political parties, all striving to secure another four years in office. It’s disheartening to witness both the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the NPP crisscrossing the nation, either attempting to deceive or persuade us to continue or switch allegiances.

In truth, actions speak louder than words; it’s politically misguided for these two parties to inundate us with their messages. Ghanaians possess the acumen to discern truth from falsehood, and we don’t need presidents pleading for our votes while simultaneously recounting their accomplishments. Is it wise for us to be coerced into renewing mandates or considering a return to the leadership of John Dramani Mahama?

The forthcoming elections present a crucial moment for Ghana’s political landscape, providing an opportunity to evaluate who truly holds the reins of the economy, security, anti-corruption efforts, and good governance. Ghanaians must decide whom to trust with their mandate for the next four years.

In my view, Ghanaian politicians are navigating a sea of deception as we approach the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections, underestimating the electorate’s maturity. The majority of voters are poised to cast their ballots based on issues affecting their lives and the stability of our beloved nation. Politicians will be held accountable for their decisions that impact the lives and businesses of Ghanaians.

As we approach the December polls, it’s evident that both major political parties will face shocks and surprises, as voters grapple with discerning truth from campaign promises. The fundamental questions on the minds of Ghanaians revolve around who speaks the truth and who is worthy of trust. While many have already made their choices, it’s imperative for all of us to prioritize Ghana’s well-being, especially as incidents of political violence have surfaced in some constituencies nationwide.

Ghana first…

I will return.
