Political analyst, Mr. David Dunu has expressed deep concerns over the recent press briefing by the Attorney-General, Dr. Dominic Ayine, regarding allegations of financial impropriety involving the former CEO of the National Signal Bureau, Mr. Kwabena Adu Boahene.
Speaking during an interview with Nana Dogbey on Ahotor FM, Mr. Dunu shared his dismay after listening to the Attorney-General’s revelations. He highlighted the alarming nature of the financial transactions allegedly conducted by Mr. Adu Boahene, which involved significant sums being transferred from state accounts to private accounts and subsequently withdrawn.
“This situation is a sad reflection of our country’s governance and accountability systems,” Mr. Dunu remarked. “Former President Mahama once said there is money in the country, and indeed, there is—but unfortunately, it seems to be sitting in the pockets of a few individuals.”
Mr. Dunu stressed that this is not an isolated incident. “If it were just one breach that was thoroughly investigated and addressed, we could accept it as an unfortunate lapse. But this appears to be part of a larger pattern of misuse of public funds. The involvement of Mr. Adu Boahene and his wife, conspiring to siphon public money, is deeply troubling,” he added.
He urged the Attorney-General to intensify efforts to uncover the full extent of the alleged financial misconduct. “We must encourage the Attorney-General to conduct a thorough investigation to gather conclusive evidence. If these allegations are substantiated, Mr. Adu Boahene and his wife must face the courts. It is imperative that the state either recovers the stolen funds or ensures that the law takes its full course,” Mr. Dunu emphasized.
Mr. Dunu’s call aligns with growing public demand for transparency and accountability in the management of state resources. His remarks underscore the need for robust anti-corruption measures to prevent such breaches in the future.
