The Bono Regional Police Command has launched investigations into the killing of two timber concession security guards and the burning of a vehicle at Mpamso Forest, near Nsuhia in the Dormaa Central Municipality of the Bono Region.
According to the Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, the tragic incident occurred on Wednesday, October 29, when about 200 suspected illegal chainsaw operators, armed with guns and machetes, allegedly attacked workers of a timber concession company operating in the area.
Chief Inspector Akeelah said police officers dispatched to the scene discovered the bodies of the two slain security guards alongside a Toyota pickup truck that had been burnt beyond repair.
He added that the police have since intensified efforts to track down the suspects behind the attack.
> “The Command is pursuing credible leads to identify and apprehend all those involved. We are committed to ensuring that the perpetrators face the full rigours of the law,”
Chief Inspector Akeelah stated.
The police have also assured residents and forestry workers in the area of enhanced security presence as investigations continue.
