The Executive Director of Alliance for Social Equity and Public Accountability (ASEPA), Mensah Thompson has served a strong warning to Ghana police service, his outfit, ASEPA has no plans to ditch their planned demonstration despite numerous acts of intimidations and theatrics by the police.
According to him, the ex-party injunction secured by the police to prevent ASEPA from demonstrating is illegal, he referred to a high court ruling in 2015, which according him makes it illegal for the police to unilaterally run to the court to secure court injunction in its bid to prevent the demonstration.
Speaking to Amb. Victor Smith who sat in as a host for Ahotor fm 92.3 morning show, holiday edition, Mensah Thomson indicated that his outfit has no plans to stop their planned demonstration.
He indicated that, after considering numerous calls placed on ASEPA amidst of numerous attempts by the police to frustrate the process, his outfit is holding on for now and restart the whole process again with the police.
He stressed that, the police cannot stop them from demonstrating , he questioned why some people were granted permission to demonstrate in Asamankese two weeks ago but same time others are being prevented from doing same.
He threatened that once they are done with the process, a permit from God secured by the police will not deter ASEPA from going ahead with their demonstration.
“We are taking our time to restart the whole process again and this time the police can go to God for permit, we are going to demonstrate”
