
The Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC), Lawyer Sammy Gyamfi, has expressed optimism ahead of the presentation of the first budget under President John Dramani Mahama’s administration.
Speaking ahead of the much-anticipated budget reading in Parliament, he described the moment as historic, marking the first major policy statement of the new government following its resounding electoral victory.
“Today is a great day. It is the day of the first budget reading for the Mahama government since our emphatic victory at the polls,” he stated.
Lawyer Gyamfi exuded confidence that the budget, to be presented by Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, will bring renewed optimism to Ghanaians.
According to him, hope has been in short supply over the past eight years, but the new government is poised to restore it.
“I am very confident and optimistic that the budget will inspire hope. Hope is one commodity that has been very scarce in our country in the last eight years. But believe me, hope is back,” he affirmed.
He emphasized that the budget would directly address the pressing needs and aspirations of Ghanaians, particularly the youth, who have long struggled with economic difficulties.
Lawyer Sammy Gyamfi assured that the government’s fiscal policy would ease hardships and introduce critical reforms to reset the economy, creating an environment where businesses can thrive and all citizens, regardless of political affiliation, can realize their full potential.
“This is the budget that will respond to the needs and aspirations of the people of Ghana. It is the budget that will ease hardships. It is the budget that will implement the necessary reforms to reset our economy and create an environment where businesses can thrive, and where all people, irrespective of their political affiliations, can realize their potential,” he noted.
Lawyer Gyamfi further stressed that the budget would reflect the NDC government’s commitment to the social contract it has with Ghanaians, ensuring the fulfillment of campaign promises.
