PIAC MEMBERS ELECT RICHARD ELLIMAH AS NEW CHAIR

The Public Interest and Accountability Committee (PIAC) has elected a Natural Resource
Governance Analyst and Community Analyst, Mr Richard Ellimah as Chair to serve a one
year term from November 2025 to November 2026.
Mr Ellimah, who is a PIAC Member representing Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and
Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) was elected by Members of the Accountability
Committee on Wednesday, 12th November 2025. He takes over from Constantine K. M.
Kudzedzi, Esq.
Commenting on his election, Mr Ellimah expressed appreciation to members for the
confidence reposed in him and pledged to build on the solid foundation laid by his
predecessors to fulfil the mandate of PIAC in promoting transparency and accountability in
the management and use of petroleum revenues.
Mr Richard Ellimah is a Community Activist, Development Planner, and Natural Resource
Governance Analyst, and has almost two decades of civil society experience, particularly in
Ghana’s natural resource space.
At the same meeting, a Biomedical Scientist, Mr Edward Yaw Afriyie, who represents the
Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) and the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and
Industry (GNCCI) was elected Vice Chairperson to serve a one-year term. He takes over from
Odeefuo Amoakwa Boadu VIII.
Ahead of the election, on Tuesday, 11th November 2025, the Coordinating Director,
Technical at the Ministry of Finance, Mr Samuel Arkhurst swore-in five Members of PIAC on
behalf of the Honourable Minister. The Members are Mr Christopher Opoku Nyarko – Ghana
Extractives Industries Transparency Initiative (GHEITI), Ms Sena Dake – Institute of
Chartered Accountants, Ghana (ICAG), Mr Zamboanga Rufai Saminu – Ghana Journalists
Association (GJA), Ms Veronica Adigbo – Ghana Bar Association (GBA) and Nana Soglo Alloh
IV – National House of Chiefs.
About PIAC
The Public Interest and Accountability Committee (PIAC) was established under Section 51
of the Petroleum Revenue Management Act (PRMA), 2011 to among others, monitor and
evaluate compliance with the Act. The Committee was inaugurated and commenced work
on 15th September 2011
