Rangers Football Club have parted ways with manager Philippe Clement, effective immediately.
This decision comes after Clement’s 16-month tenure at the club, during which he led the team to their 28th Scottish League Cup trophy.
Clement’s managerial career spans over a decade, with notable stints at Genk and Club Brugge in Belgium, where he won multiple Belgian Pro League titles. He also managed Monaco in Ligue 1 before joining Rangers in October 2023.
During his time at Rangers, Clement achieved a win percentage of 54.62% across all competitions. His team scored an average of 2.08 goals per match and conceded 0.97 goals per match in the Premiership.
In the Premiership, Clement played a total of 48 matches, winning 29, drawing 10, and losing 9. Rangers currently sit 13 points behind Celtic in the Scottish Premiership table, with 25 matches played.
Clement’s side had a mixed bag of results, including some disappointing losses in key matches. Despite some promising performances in the Europa League, Clement’s overall record was not enough to save his job.
The club’s decision to part ways with Clement comes after a string of underwhelming results, including a 2-0 home loss to St Mirren, which proved to be the final straw for the Rangers board.
Rangers will now begin their search for a new manager, with the aim of finding the right candidate to lead the team to success. The club will be looking for someone who can close the gap with Celtic and bring silverware to Ibrox.
