Peter Okoye, one half of the legendary Nigerian music duo P-Square, has candidly shared how fame—once a dream he prayed for—has now become something he sometimes wishes he could escape.
Rising to prominence in the early 2000s alongside his twin brother Paul, P-Square became a household name across Africa and beyond, delivering chart-topping hits and electrifying performances.
But nearly three decades into the spotlight, Peter reveals that the celebrity lifestyle has its shadows.
In a recent interview on Naija FM, the veteran artist spoke about the personal sacrifices that come with stardom. “We used to pray for fame,” he said. “But now, when I go out or travel, I have to cover my face with a mask, a cap, and sunglasses just to avoid being noticed.”
While grateful for the massive success he and his brother have enjoyed, Peter admitted that he often misses the simplicity and freedom of a private life.
“Sometimes, I just want to be normal again,” he confessed, highlighting the emotional and mental toll that public life can carry.
