Peter Amidu Acquah Ruled Out of Asante Kotoko vs Hearts of Oak Super Clash Due to Injury

Peter Amidu Acquah, 19-year-old right winger for Asante Kotoko SC, has been ruled out of the upcoming Super Clash against Hearts of Oak due to an injury.

Born on September 4, 2006, the young Ghanaian talent stands at 184 cm tall and is known for his versatility on both feet, exceptional dribbling skills, pace, and creative playmaking ability. He joined Asante Kotoko in September 2023 and wears the number 30 jersey.

The injury comes at a particularly tough time for the Porcupine Warriors, as the Super Clash is scheduled for Sunday, February 15, 2026, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, with kickoff at 5:00 PM local time.

This fixture, often regarded as one of the most intense rivalries in Ghanaian football, will be played under the lights and broadcast accordingly, marking the 120th edition of the encounter where Asante Kotoko holds a slight historical edge.

Acquah has been one of the standout performers in the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season so far. After Matchday 21, he leads the league in assists with 7, achieved in around 16 appearances making direct involvement in 11 goals overall, including 4 goals and those 7 assists.

His creativity has been pivotal for Kotoko’s attack, earning praise as a “dribbling wizard” and one of the most entertaining players in the league. He has been highlighted in top assists charts, often topping or leading the first-round providers, and has contributed significantly in key matches, including goals and multiple assists in emphatic wins.

This latest setback follows previous injury concerns for the winger, including a six-week ankle injury earlier in 2025 that sidelined him alongside teammate Elvis Kyei Baffour, impacting continental commitments at the time.

The specific nature and severity of his current injury have not been detailed publicly beyond it ruling him out of this blockbuster game, but it represents a major blow to Kotoko’s attacking options ahead of facing their fiercest rivals.

Fans and analysts alike recognize Acquah as a rising star with immense potential, frequently mentioned in discussions around Ghana’s youth setups like the Black Satellites.

The club and supporters will be hoping for a quick recovery so he can resume his influential role in the second round of the season, where Kotoko’s forward line already looks formidable with players like Morifing Donzo, Kwame Opoku, and others. A speedy return would be a huge boost as the Porcupine Warriors push for success in the league.
