Ghanaian Gospel singer, Mabel Okyere, has shed light on the troubling experiences she has faced as a young and talented female artiste in the industry.
In a revealing interview with Dave Hammer on Hello FM, Mabel confirmed longstanding rumors that some male figures in the gospel music scene take advantage of upcoming female artistes under the guise of offering support. She boldly admitted to being a victim of such inappropriate advances.
According to Mabel, gospel musicians in Ghana often work closely with pastors, as they are the ones who organize shows and help them earn a living. However, she expressed concern over the fact that nearly every pastor she encounters makes sexual advances toward her before offering any form of support or bookings.
She questioned whether it is her beauty or marital status that makes her a target, as she remains unmarried. Nonetheless, she firmly stated that she has never given in to these demands and continues to reject such immoral offers.
Mabel emphasized that while these situations are common, it is ultimately up to each woman to decide whether to compromise or stand her ground in the face of such pressure from influential men in the industry.
