Ghanaian pastor Prophet Gideon Danso has stunned the nation with a record-setting, no-frills wedding — all for just GHC 600.
No flashy tuxedos, no decorated venues, and absolutely no buffet line. Instead, the lead pastor of Empowerment Worship Centre opted for what he calls a “debt-free blessing,” choosing simplicity, sincerity, and savings.
The news broke during a spirited Sunday service when Apostle Rev. Ben Doku, founder of Overcomers Outreach Family Church, shared the surprise announcement with a cheering congregation.
“I came here to announce to you that in the course of the week, something happened,” Rev. Doku declared. “What happened is that your lead pastor, Prophet Gideon Danso, got married. I’m here to announce to you, God has given you a mother.”
Prophet Danso himself took the mic to explain the modest ceremony: “I called Reverend, we signed, took vows, he blessed us, and we served Malt and Fanta. No food, no nothing. I don’t owe anybody,” he said, smiling.
The new bride, Gina, won hearts for her simplicity and strong spirit. Danso proudly praised her: “She’s helped me build not just a church, but a home.”
Social media has since erupted with admiration, with many calling the couple’s move “bold,” “refreshing,” and “a challenge to materialism.” Some say it’s the most romantic story of the year — proof that love, not luxury, is what truly matters.
Would you have a GHC 600 wedding for love?
