Parliament’s Sports Committee Calls on Corporate Ghana to Fund $30 Million Campaign for Fan Participation in 2026 FIFA World Cup

The Sports Committee of Parliament has issued a passionate appeal to corporate Ghana, calling on businesses across the country to generously step forward and play a pivotal role in supporting the ambitious $30 million fundraising campaign.

This initiative is specifically aimed at facilitating the active participation of Ghanaian fans at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, ensuring that thousands of passionate supporters can travel to the tournament venues, create an electrifying atmosphere, and proudly represent the Black Stars on the global stage.

Speaking to journalists during a recent interaction, Ernest Henry Norgbey, the respected Chairman of the Sports Committee, expressed the Committee’s full and unequivocal endorsement of President John Mahama’s principled decision not to allocate any public funds toward this campaign.

He emphasized that the government remains committed to prudent financial management and fiscal responsibility, preferring instead to mobilize resources through private sector contributions and patriotic corporate sponsorships.

Norgbey highlighted that this approach not only aligns with the broader vision of shared national development but also fosters a sense of collective ownership among Ghanaian businesses, encouraging them to invest in sports as a powerful tool for national unity, youth inspiration, and international prestige.

The Chairman further stressed that with strong corporate backing, the campaign could successfully bridge the gap between fan enthusiasm and logistical realities, turning what might otherwise be a distant aspiration into a vibrant, unforgettable reality for Ghanaian football lovers worldwide.

He urged companies to view their participation not merely as a donation but as a strategic investment in Ghana’s sporting heritage and global image.
