BLANKSON AS MUNICIPAL CHIEF EXECUTIVE FOR WEIJA GBAWE
MUNICIPALITY
His Excellency John Dramani Mahama,
With the utmost respect and unwavering commitment to the progress of our party, the National
Democratic Congress (NDC), we, the undersigned elected Assembly Members of Weija Gbawe
Municipality, write to you with a firm and resolute stance regarding the nomination of a
Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for our constituency.
The Regional Executives of the party have completed their shortlisting process, and while we acknowledge their efforts, we categorically state that there is no candidate more deserving,competent, or experienced for the position than Hon. Wilfred Ayitey Blankson, the longest-serving Assembly Member and the current Presiding Member of the Assembly.
Hon. Wilfred Ayitey Blankson has served this constituency diligently and selflessly for over a decade. His leadership and administrative experience span more than 20 years, making him the best-qualified candidate for this position at this critical moment.
• Unmatched Experience in Local Governance: Since 2015, he has been the only
individual in Weija Gbawe’s history to be elected as an Assembly Member three
consecutive times, serving with excellence.
• Proven Leadership & Policy Expertise: Currently serving as the Presiding Member of
the Weija Gbawe Municipal Assembly, he has played a key role in governance and
policymaking, working on numerous committees to drive community development.
• Deep Understanding of Municipal Administration: Having worked with four different Municipal Chief Executives, his knowledge of the position’s responsibilities and challenges is unparalleled.
• A Dedicated Party Loyalist: As a staunch and committed member of the NDC, he has
worked tirelessly to advance the party’s policies and ensure the success of His
Excellency John Dramani Mahama’s vision for Ghana.
As elected Assembly Members, we unanimously reject the nomination of any individual who is not a member of the Assembly. No one outside of our Assembly understands the constituency and party’s needs better than Hon. Wilfred Ayitey Blankson.
Any attempt to impose an outsider will not only undermine our efforts but also create unnecessary disunity within the party and the constituency.
We state without ambiguity: we will vote against any nomination that does not include Mr. Wilfred Ayitey Blankson. Our commitment is to the party and the people we represent, and we will not endorse any other candidate.
Your Excellency, the decision on this nomination is crucial.
Any imposition of an unpopular candidate will result in avoidable embarrassment for the party, creating unnecessary divisions that could weaken our electoral fortunes in Weija Gbawe. We do not want this to happen. We want to see peace, unity, and a strengthened NDC, and the best way to achieve that is by ensuring that the will of the people is respected.
Hon. Wilfred Ayitey Blankson has been endorsed by all 13 elected Assembly Members, a clear testament to his competence, leadership, and acceptability. His vision for Weija Gbawe includes infrastructural development, education, healthcare, and economic empowerment, all of which align with the party’s agenda for national transformation.
We kindly urge you, as the leader of our great party and President of our nation, to prioritize
experience, competence, and party unity by nominating Hon. Wilfred Ayitey Blankson as the Municipal Chief Executive for Weija Gbawe. The constituency stands firmly behind him, and any alternative nomination will be met with rejection.
We trust in your leadership and your commitment to the party’s growth. The future of Weija Gbawe depends on this decision, and we look forward to your decisive action in the interest of the party and the people.
